Best Setmore Alternatives for Growth
In short
The right Setmore alternative depends on which Setmore limit you hit. Setmore Free stops at four users and sends email reminders but not SMS reminders; Pro costs $12 per user a month, or $5 billed annually (Setmore's pricing page, read September 25 and 27, 2026). Alternatives bill per location, per calendar, per team member or per business.
- Price your real team size, not the entry plan: per-user and per-member plans grow with every hire, while per-location plans do not.
- Marketplace apps such as Fresha and Booksy charge for some new clients they send you, on top of the monthly subscription.
- Staying on Setmore makes sense for four or fewer users who can live without SMS reminders, since its free plan costs nothing.

Owners look for a Setmore alternative when the team outgrows Setmore Free or when Pro's per-user price adds up. This guide sets out the Setmore limits that usually trigger a switch, how nine alternatives bill a team of five or 10 staff, what each one costs where its price is published, and when staying on Setmore is the better call.
Twizzlo, which publishes this guide, makes online booking and appointment scheduling software and is one of the platforms compared. Setmore's own plans are covered in full on our Setmore pricing page. Every price on this page comes from the vendor's own pricing page or help center, read between September 25 and 28, 2026.
The Setmore Limits That Send Owners Looking for an Alternative
Setmore bills per user. Its Free plan covers up to four users, with unlimited appointments, online payments, a branded booking page and email reminders; Pro removes the user cap and adds SMS reminders, two-way calendar sync, recurring appointments and branding removal for $12 per user a month, or $5 billed annually.
Setmore counts each staff member with a profile as a user, even one without a login, and quotes Enterprise plans through its sales team (pricing page, read September 25 and 27, 2026). Table 1 pairs each Setmore limit with the question to ask of an alternative.
| Limit | What Setmore does | What to check on an alternative |
|---|---|---|
| A fifth user | Free covers up to four users; Pro removes the cap at $12 per user a month ($5 billed annually) | How the price moves with each added person |
| SMS reminders | Free sends email reminders only; on Pro, "team members get 500 SMS credits monthly," with more for sale in the app ("Availability varies by country") | Whether texts are included, capped or bought as credits, and the price of each extra text |
| Calendar sync and repeat bookings | Two-way calendar sync and recurring appointments are Pro features | Whether it syncs both ways with the calendar you use and books repeat appointments |
| Your own brand | Removing Setmore branding from the booking page is a Pro feature | Whether the entry plan shows the vendor's name on your booking page |

Alternatives to Setmore, Listed Alphabetically
Setmore's main competitors bill in four ways: per user, team member or calendar; by calendar tier; per location; or per business by plan. The eight below are listed alphabetically, and Twizzlo follows in its own section.
Acuity Scheduling
Acuity Scheduling, sold by Squarespace, bills by the number of calendars: Starter $20 a month for one, Standard $34 for up to six and Premium $61 for up to 36, or $16, $27 and $49 billed annually. There is no free plan, only a seven-day trial (pricing page, read September 25, 2026). A seventh staff calendar means Premium. It suits businesses that take bookings through a website, especially a Squarespace site. Each plan is set out on our Acuity Scheduling pricing page, and owners already on Acuity can compare each Acuity Scheduling alternative. For the two side by side at every team size from one to 10, see our Setmore vs Acuity comparison.
Booksy
Booksy bills per business with one team member included: $29.99 a month plus tax, then $20 a month per added member, with a 14-day trial and no card (pricing page, read September 25, 2026). It includes Reserve with Google, waitlists, custom forms, memberships and packages, and Booksy calls confirmations and reminders "always free" (pricing page, captured September 24, 2026). Boost, its marketplace program, takes a one-time 30% of the service price on a new client's first visit, with a $10 minimum and $100 maximum (help center, captured September 27, 2026). See our Booksy pricing page and Booksy alternatives guide.
Fresha
Fresha pairs booking software with a consumer marketplace. It charges a monthly subscription, billed per bookable team member on its team plan, and a one-time fee on new clients who book through the marketplace. Its pricing page showed only Canadian prices from our reading location on September 25, 2026, so US prices are not quoted here. Owners already on Fresha can compare Fresha alternatives.
GlossGenius
GlossGenius bills per business by plan: Standard $28 a month without staff management, Gold $56 for up to nine staff and Platinum $168 for teams of 10 or more, or $24, $48 and $148 billed annually. Each added location costs its plan price less 15%, and card payments carry a flat 2.6% rate. There is no free plan, only a 14-day trial (pricing page, read September 27, 2026). Its plans are labeled for beauty and wellness businesses. Plans are compared on our GlossGenius pricing page, and owners leaving it can weigh each GlossGenius alternative.
Mindbody
Mindbody bills per location. Its pricing page prints "Starting at $79" a month per location, quotes every plan through its sales team and lists unlimited users on all three plans (pricing page, read September 25, 2026). Its own site describes fitness and wellness management software that schedules classes and appointments and manages memberships (home page, captured September 27, 2026), so it fits studios that run classes alongside appointments. Our Mindbody pricing page and Mindbody alternative guide cover its plans.
SimplyBook.me
SimplyBook.me bills per account by booking and provider limits, starting with a free tier for 50 bookings and one provider. Its paid tiers raise both limits: Basic includes 100 bookings and five providers, Standard 500 bookings and 15 providers, and Premium 2,000 bookings and 30 providers (pricing page, read September 25, 2026). That page showed only Canadian prices from our reading location, so no US price is quoted here.
Square Appointments
Square Appointments bills per location, not per person: Square Free is $0, Plus $49 and Premium $149 a month per location (pricing page, read September 25, 2026), and every plan includes unlimited staff calendars. Cancellation and no-show fees, multi-staff booking and a waitlist start on Plus (plan grid, captured September 27, 2026). It fits businesses that already take card payments with Square. Plans are broken down on our Square Appointments pricing page, and owners leaving Square can compare each Square Appointments alternative.
Vagaro
Vagaro bills per calendar: $23.99 a month, a limited-time rate, with one calendar included, then $10 a month for each added employee calendar up to seven licenses, after which new employees are added at no charge (US help center, read September 25, 2026). The base subscription includes text and email reminders, packages, gift cards, inventory and retail tools, and card payments on Vagaro hardware (help center, read September 28, 2026). Plans are broken down on our Vagaro pricing page, and Vagaro vs Booksy sets it against Booksy.
Where Twizzlo Fits After Setmore
Twizzlo is web-based online booking and appointment scheduling software for appointment-based service businesses. It bills per business, not per user, so adding staff does not change the price on either plan. Free is $0 a month for up to 150 bookings, with no SMS. Business Pro is $29.99 a month per business with unlimited bookings, 50 SMS a month, then $0.03 each, and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Both plans include unlimited staff and locations, and Employee Shifts sets each person's weekly hours at each location.
Clients can prepay the full service price when they book, and no-show fees are applied at the business's discretion. Online payments carry your Stripe processing rate plus a 1.5% Twizzlo platform fee. Support runs 24/7 by email at support@twizzlo.com.
Twizzlo does not run payroll, commission tracking or memberships. The full feature list is on Twizzlo's staff and booking features page. Salons can see how it runs on our salon appointment software page.
When Staying on Setmore Is the Better Call
Staying on Setmore makes sense for a team of four or fewer that does not need SMS reminders: Setmore Free costs $0 with unlimited appointments, online payments, a branded booking page and email reminders. On annual billing, Pro costs $5 per user a month, $25 for five users and $50 for 10. Both plans include iOS and Android apps, and Setmore lets owners try Pro "risk-free for 30 days" and request a refund if not satisfied (pricing page, read September 27, 2026).
Teams that rely on Pro's two-way calendar sync or recurring appointments should confirm a replacement offers the same before moving.
Setmore Alternative FAQ
Owners leaving Setmore ask most about cost at their team size, free options, marketplace fees and extra locations.
What is the best Setmore alternative?
It depends on which Setmore limit you hit. On vendors' pages read September 25 and 27, 2026, a team of five on monthly billing pays $60 a month on Setmore Pro, $34 on Acuity Scheduling Standard, $56 on GlossGenius Gold and $63.99 on Vagaro's limited-time rate. Square Appointments bills per location, and Twizzlo bills per business with unlimited staff on both plans.
Is there a free Setmore alternative?
Yes, several. Square Appointments Free costs $0 a month per location with unlimited staff calendars, SimplyBook.me has a free tier for 50 bookings and one provider, and Setmore Free itself covers up to four users (pricing pages, read September 25, 2026). Twizzlo Free is $0 a month for up to 150 bookings, with no SMS. Each free tier ends at a booking, user or feature limit.
Why do businesses look for a Setmore alternative?
Most have outgrown Setmore Free, which covers up to four users and sends reminders by email only. Moving to Pro adds SMS reminders, two-way calendar sync, recurring appointments and branding removal at $12 per user a month, or $5 billed annually (Setmore's pricing page, read September 25 and 27, 2026), so the bill grows with each hire.
Which Setmore alternative is best for salons and barbershops?
Booksy, GlossGenius and Vagaro are built for beauty and barbering. On pages read September 25 and 27, 2026, Booksy costs $29.99 a month plus tax and $20 per added member, GlossGenius Gold costs $56 for up to nine staff, and Vagaro costs $23.99 a month, a limited-time rate, plus $10 per added calendar up to seven licenses. Twizzlo also serves salons and barbershops and bills per business, with unlimited staff on both plans.
How do marketplace platforms compare with flat-rate schedulers?
Marketplace platforms charge for some of the new clients they send. Fresha adds a one-time fee on new clients who book through its marketplace (its US rate could not be read on September 25, 2026), and Booksy Boost charges a one-time 30% of the service price on a new client's first visit, with a $10 minimum and $100 maximum (help center, captured September 27, 2026). A flat-rate scheduler charges the same subscription wherever a client comes from, so weigh those fees against the clients the marketplace sends.
What should multi-location businesses look for in a Setmore alternative?
How each added location is billed. On pages read September 25 and 27, 2026, Square Appointments charges its plan price at every location, $49 each on Plus; GlossGenius charges each added location its plan price less 15%; Mindbody prints "Starting at $79" a month per location; and Vagaro's help center prints no subscription price for an added location. Twizzlo includes unlimited locations on both plans.
Is Vagaro cheaper than Setmore?
It depends on team size. On pages read September 25, 2026, Setmore Pro costs $12 per user a month on monthly billing, and Vagaro costs $23.99 a month, a limited-time rate, plus $10 for each added employee calendar up to seven licenses. At those rates, Setmore costs less up to six users, the two are about level at seven ($84 and $83.99), and Vagaro costs less from eight. On annual billing, at $5 per user, Setmore stays below Vagaro's monthly rate up to 16 users.
How is Fresha different from Setmore?
Fresha is built around a consumer marketplace. It charges a monthly subscription, billed per team member on its team plan, plus a one-time fee on new clients who find the business through that marketplace; its US prices could not be read for this review on September 25, 2026. Setmore's pricing page, read September 27, 2026, lists per-user plans and prints no fee on new clients.
