Free Yoga Studio Software: What Each Free Plan Charges You

By Roger Grekos, founder and editor, Twizzlo. Prices were read first-hand from each vendor's own website between September 8 and September 11, 2026.

Twizzlo publishes this page and competes with the products priced on it. Every competitor price stated here as current is read from that vendor's own website, its pricing page or help center, with the qualifier printed there, or recorded as not published.

Yes, free yoga studio software exists. Twizzlo, Setmore, Square Appointments, Ubindi and Momoyoga all publish a $0 plan (€0 on Momoyoga) rather than a trial. The catch is the fee on each payment, or the cap on bookings, students or staff calendars. We priced all five from vendor pages September 8 to 11, 2026.

Is there really free yoga studio software, or only a free trial?

Free plans and free trials both exist, and one ranking list we checked, the wpamelia guide, mixes them together. A free plan has a $0 subscription and no stated end date. A free trial runs at $0 for a fixed window, then bills you or locks the account. For a yoga studio that difference is not academic. A trial expiring mid-term leaves you moving thirty booked students onto a plan you have not chosen.

Five of the nine platforms we priced between September 8 and 11, 2026, publish a $0 plan (€0 on Momoyoga) rather than a trial: Twizzlo, Setmore, Square Appointments, Ubindi and Momoyoga. Only two of the five print a permanence promise on the page itself. Twizzlo's reads "Free forever, not a trial" and Ubindi's reads "Manage up to 50 students for free, forever". The other three publish a $0 tier (€0 on Momoyoga) with no stated expiry, which supports "not a trial" but is not the same claim, so we do not make it on their behalf.

Two of the nine platforms offer a trial only. Punchpass states, "Our 14 day free trial let's you explore everything Punchpass has to offer." Its cheapest plan after that window is Grow at $59 a month billed monthly, or $623 a year billed annually. OfferingTree answers the same question in its own FAQ: "Yes. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial." Its cheapest plan is Essentials at $35 a month on monthly billing, or $26 a month billed annually. Momence, the eighth platform we priced, now redirects its pricing URL to a page headed "Let's talk pricing", with a lead form and no plan, price or fee. We read it on September 10, 2026, so we no longer count Momence as a free plan.

Mindbody, the ninth platform we priced, publishes neither a free plan nor a trial. Every plan button reads "Let's talk", and the only plan price on the page is "Starting at $79 USD/month per location." The page also prints a new-client marketplace fee, charged only when the Mindbody app delivers a client you would not otherwise have received. In its words, "The fee is 20%, capped at $30 (or 30 in local currency), and only on the first purchase for someone new to your business." That starting price of $79 USD a month per location is published, so we report it with both of its qualifiers rather than saying Mindbody publishes nothing. So free yoga studio software is real, and five vendors publish one.

The useful question is what each free plan charges you somewhere other than the subscription line. Read a free plan the way you read a lease. Ask what the cap is, what the fee on each payment is, and what stops working the day you cross the cap.

What do the five free plans include, and what does each one cap?

The five free plans are not the same product with different logos. They cap different things, and what each one caps tells you who it was built for. Twizzlo caps volume. The free plan is $0 a month, permanent rather than a trial, and capped at 150 bookings a month. Every feature is included, and employees, locations and customers are unlimited. SMS is the one exclusion. Business Pro at $29.99 a month per business lifts the cap and adds 50 SMS included, then $0.03 a message. Our booking software built for yoga studios shows how that free tier is set up.

Setmore caps staff calendars. Its free plan, read on September 8 and again on September 11, 2026, is "$0 USD user / month" for "Up to 4 users", with unlimited appointments, payments and email reminders. SMS reminders sit on Pro, and our Twizzlo and Setmore comparison covers that gap. Setmore's FAQ defines the billing unit precisely: "Each staff calendar counts as a user even if the owner/assignee does not have login permission."

Square Appointments charges by location and caps marketing. Square Free is "$0/mo. per location", and the page states "With Square Free, there are no monthly subscription costs." Text message marketing is "Not available in Square Free". Square Plus is $49 a month per location and Square Premium is $149 a month per location.

Ubindi caps students. Its free plan covers "Manage up to 50 students", and still includes registrations, attendance, on demand videos, passes and memberships. Essential lifts that to unlimited students at $14 a month on monthly billing, or $11 a month on yearly billing.

Momoyoga caps products, not people. Its Free plan is €0 with classes, events, payments and video on demand. The comparison table limits it to 2 memberships and class passes, and 1 paid ticket type per event. Standard is €29 per month billed annually, or €39 per month billed monthly, both excluding VAT for EU customers. On September 8, 2026, and again on September 11, its FAQ said Standard and Plus each offer a 14-day trial, while the €0 Free plan carried no stated expiry. We read the monthly figures in a browser on September 8, 2026, because they appear only after you click the Monthly toggle.

Line chart showing Ubindi Free rising with payment volume and crossing the shallower Ubindi Essential line.
Ubindi's free plan charges 5% + 20¢ per payment in platform fees; Essential charges $14 a month on monthly billing and 2% + 20¢ per payment. The 20¢ is identical on both plans, so the lines cross at $466.67 a month in online payments. On yearly billing Essential is $11 a month and the crossover falls to $366.67 a month. Both plans use the same separate processor, Stripe, whose fee is excluded here and applies to both lines. Read from ubindi.com on September 8, 2026.

What does a free plan cost once you start taking payments?

Here is where free plans earn their keep or quietly stop being free. Every Ubindi, Momoyoga and Square fee quoted in this section was read on the vendor's own page on September 8, 2026, and read again on September 10, 2026. Three of the five, Ubindi, Momoyoga and Square Appointments, charge a fee on every online payment that a paid plan reduces or removes.

Ubindi's free plan lists "Online payments (5% +20¢ platform fees*)", a fee on each online payment, the asterisk pointing to Stripe underneath. Essential, at $14 a month billed monthly or $11 a month billed yearly, states "Platform fees reduced to 2%+20¢", again on each payment. Pro, at $99 a month billed monthly or $69 a month billed yearly, states "0% platform fees". The more you collect, the more the free plan costs you. Momoyoga does the same with one footnote: "The 5% platform fee for the Free plan is on top of the Stripe fee." Standard and Plus carry only the standard online payment fee. Momoyoga prints its prices in euros and notes "All prices excluding VAT for EU customers."

Square Appointments adds no platform fee. It charges a higher processing rate on the free plan instead. Online cards run 3.3% + 30¢ per transaction on Square Free against 2.9% + 30¢ on Plus and Premium. In person it is 2.6% + 15¢ per transaction on Free, 2.5% + 15¢ on Plus and 2.4% + 15¢ on Premium. Gift cards are a separate line: "With Square Free and Square Plus, you pay a 2.5% load fee", which drops to 0% on Square Premium.

Two fee models have to be kept apart when you compare free plans. Square's 3.3% + 30¢ per online transaction is the card processing rate itself. Ubindi's 5% + 20¢ per payment, Momoyoga's 5% and Twizzlo's 1.5% are platform markups charged on top of a separate processor's fee. We could not fetch a US Stripe rate on September 8, 2026, so we do not add one. Setmore's pricing page lists no platform markup, and its payments page, read on September 11, 2026, says "You won't be charged by Setmore for transactions."

Twizzlo charges a 1.5% platform fee on top of Stripe's own fees, and publishes no separate free-plan rate. If the 1.5% applies on Free, it climbs with revenue the way Ubindi's and Momoyoga's free-plan fees do, only more slowly. Of the free yoga studio software on this list, Setmore's is the only one for which we found no fee of its own on a payment. Per Setmore's payments page, read September 11, 2026, transaction fees set by its payment partners still apply. The caps, 150 bookings a month on Twizzlo and 4 staff calendars on Setmore, are what stand between you and a subscription. Card processing fees are a separate bill that arrives either way.

When does free stop being free? The break-even, computed

A free plan with a percentage fee has a break-even point: the monthly payment volume at which the fee you would save costs more than the paid subscription. Only Ubindi prints one, so here are all of them. Momoyoga. Free adds 5% on every online payment and Standard removes it, so the answer depends on which billing term you sign. On annual billing Standard is €29 per month, and break-even is €29 divided by 0.05, which is €580 in online payments a month. On monthly billing Standard is €39 per month, and break-even is €39 divided by 0.05, which is €780 a month. The page opens on the annual toggle, so the €580 break-even matches the price it shows first.

Ubindi. Free charges 5% + 20¢, Essential charges 2% + 20¢, both per payment. The 20¢ is identical on both, so the saving is three percentage points. Break-even against Essential at $14 a month is $14 divided by 0.03, which is $466.67 a month on monthly billing. On yearly billing, the toggle the page opens on, Essential is $11 a month, so break-even is $11 divided by 0.03, which is $366.67 a month. Ubindi's page says Essential is the "Best value if you take in more than $400 in monthly payments." That single rounded figure sits between our two answers, and Ubindi prints it under both the Monthly and the Yearly toggle, so it is not evidence for either billing term.

Ubindi Pro, one tier above Essential, removes the 2% that Essential still charges. On monthly billing that is Pro at $99 a month against Essential at $14 a month, so break-even is $85 divided by 0.02, which is $4,250 a month. On yearly billing it is Pro at $69 a month against Essential at $11 a month, so $58 divided by 0.02, which is $2,900 a month. Ubindi's page puts Pro's line at "over $4,400 in monthly payments", about $150 a month more than the monthly arithmetic and well past the yearly one.

Square Appointments. The online gap between Square Free and Square Plus is 0.4 percentage points. Square Plus is $49 a month per location, so break-even is $49 divided by 0.004, which is $12,250 in online card volume a month, per location. In person the gap is 0.1 point, so break-even against Square Plus at $49 a month per location is $49 divided by 0.001, which is $49,000 a month per location.

Setmore. No volume break-even, a cliff. Free covers up to 4 users, and each staff calendar counts as a user whether or not that person logs in. Four teaching calendars plus an owner calendar is 5 users. Setmore Pro is $12 per user per month billed monthly, or $5 per user per month billed annually, and the fifth calendar makes all five billable. On Setmore Pro that is 5 times $12 per user per month billed monthly, which is $60 a month, or 5 times $5 per user per month billed annually, which is $25 a month and $300 a year. The fifth calendar costs $60 a month, not $12 for one user, on monthly billing, or $25 a month, not $5 for one user, billed annually.

We price Setmore's fifth-calendar cliff, where a fifth staff calendar makes all five calendars billable, on Pro because Pro is the only paid plan Setmore presents as a card. Setmore's pricing page also names a team tier in its billing text, at $9 per month billed monthly and $5 per month billed annually. No team card is offered to price it, so we do not treat that tier as a route off Free.

Twizzlo. Like Setmore, a cliff. Free stops at 150 bookings a month and Business Pro is $29.99 a month flat per business. At the cap the subscription works out to $0.20 a booking. At 500 bookings it is $0.06 a booking, and it keeps falling, because the subscription does not move. Twizzlo publishes no separate free-plan payment rate, so we do not fold the 1.5% into this crossover in either direction.

Bar chart with one bar per free plan showing each vendor's percentage fee on online payments, in two separate fee groups.
Every plan in this chart advertises $0 a month (€0 on Momoyoga), so each vendor gets one bar: the percentage fee that vendor charges on $1,000 of online payments in a month. Fixed per-payment amounts (Ubindi's 20¢ and Square's 30¢) are excluded, because the total depends on how many payments make up the $1,000. The two groups are not comparable, so do not read a bar in one against a bar in the other. Group A is a platform markup charged on top of a separate processor whose fee is NOT included here, because we could not fetch a US Stripe rate on September 8, 2026. Setmore's $0 means its pricing page lists no platform markup of its own, not that card payments are free: processing on Setmore is a separate processor's charge (its payments page, read September 11, 2026). Group B is Square's own published online card rate, so the percentage part of card processing is included. The Twizzlo bar is an assumption, not a measurement: Twizzlo publishes a 1.5% platform fee but publishes no separate free-plan rate, so the bar assumes the 1.5% applies to Free. Read from vendor pages on September 8, 2026, with Twizzlo's 1.5% taken from its payment-processing article (read September 8 and again September 10, 2026).

Which free plan fits which kind of yoga business?

Match the free plan to the shape of your studio, not to the longest feature list. A solo teacher selling privates and drop-ins. Twizzlo's free plan carries 150 bookings a month with every feature on. Setmore's covers up to 4 calendars with unlimited appointments. Both are booking-first tools and neither free plan lists class passes. The same logic applies to personal trainer scheduling, where the calendar is a list of appointments rather than a class roster.

A teacher living on class passes and memberships. Momoyoga Free and Ubindi Free both sell passes and memberships at no subscription cost, which Twizzlo's and Setmore's free plans do not. Momoyoga caps you at 2 memberships and class passes. Ubindi caps you at 50 students. Both take 5% of every online payment (plus 20¢ a payment on Ubindi) on top of a separate processor's fee, so run the break-even above first.

A studio with a front desk and card-present payments. Square Free is $0 a month per location and takes cards in person at 2.6% + 15¢ per transaction. Break-even against Square Plus on in-person volume is around $49,000 a month per location, so on in-person card fees alone, a desk-heavy studio can stay on Square Free for a long time. Square Plus and Square Premium both carry "Try free for 30 days" if you want to test the paid tiers. A fourth tier, Square Pro, carries no price at all. Its gate reads: "If you process over $250,000 per year, talk to our team to see if you're eligible for custom pricing and processing fees." Our Twizzlo versus Square Appointments comparison covers the rest of that trade.

A studio that already needs recurring memberships and waitlists. No free plan here lists both. On September 11, 2026, Ubindi's homepage and its features page put auto-billed memberships on Free, capped at 50 students, and named no waitlist. Momoyoga's pricing page put recurring memberships on Plus that day, as it had on September 8, and waitlists on Standard. Punchpass puts recurring memberships on Flow at $99 a month billed monthly. OfferingTree includes memberships and class packs on every plan from $35 a month on monthly billing. Weigh its fee line against a free tier: "On Essentials, OfferingTree charges a 2.9% transaction fee on top of standard payment processing fees". OfferingTree's FAQ says that on Pro, Pro Plus and every studio plan that transaction fee is 0%.

Mindbody starts at $79 USD a month per location, and our guide to Mindbody alternatives covers other options. Our guide to the best yoga studio software compares more platforms. Growing past free yoga studio software is not a failure. The question is only which line you cross first, because each vendor draws a different one.

What do the pages ranking for free yoga studio software get wrong?

Two ranking pages, both lists, carry errors a studio owner would act on. We fetched both on September 8, 2026. SoftwareSuggest's free yoga studio software page lists WellnessLiving at "Starting Price: $39 Per Month". WellnessLiving's own pricing page on September 8, 2026, showed Starter at $69 a month on monthly billing, and $62 a month on annual billing. The $39 a month figure appeared on that page only as the Business plan's promotional rate against a $199 a month list price on monthly billing, footnoted "Save 80% for 2 Months". A two-month promotion is not a starting price.

SoftwareSuggest lists TeamUp at "Starting Price: $59 User/Month". TeamUp does not bill per user. Its pricing page on September 8, 2026, priced by active customers and showed $189 a month for 101 to 200 customers. Its FAQ defined the unit: "An active customer is someone who has a registration or purchases something from your business during the month." The billing unit is wrong there, not only the number. That can make a budget wrong by a multiple.

The wpamelia guide, a list that ranks for free yoga studio software, files trials under free. Its own copy says Punchpass "has a 14-day free trial period", and Punchpass's cheapest plan on September 8, 2026, was $59 a month billed monthly, or $623 a year billed annually. It says Booksteam is free for 14 days, Ovatu for 30 days, and that Bookee offers 14-day trials. It also names no price for anything on the list except a HoneyBook promotion at $1 per month for six months, terms we read there on September 11, 2026. A reader does not learn from it what each tool costs when free ends.

The wpamelia guide also presents Schedulicity as a current free option, saying "The free plan lets you schedule up to 10 appointments per month." On September 8, 2026, schedulicity.com returned a 301 to vagaro.com/pro/schedulicity. That page opened with "Schedulicity is now Vagaro." We did not check whether a legacy free plan still runs for existing accounts, so we report the redirect and stop. The lesson is simple. Price a plan on the vendor's own page before moving a studio onto it.

Where Twizzlo's free plan fits, and where it does not

We build Twizzlo, so here is the plain version, including what it will not do for a yoga studio. The free plan is $0 a month and permanent rather than a trial. It caps at 150 bookings a month and includes every feature, with unlimited employees, locations and customers, online payments and tips, and 24/7 support. It has no SMS. Business Pro is $29.99 a month flat per business, with unlimited bookings, 50 SMS included, $0.03 a message after that, and a 30-day money-back guarantee. The price is per business, not per teacher, which is the whole argument for flat-rate booking software.

Payments run through Stripe with a 1.5% Twizzlo platform fee on top of Stripe's own fees, and our guide to payment processing explains that stack. We publish no separate free-plan payment rate and we have not confirmed one for this article, so treat the 1.5% as the published figure and nothing further. Now the gaps, because they decide whether this is your answer. Twizzlo has no membership autopay and no package or class-pack builder. If your studio runs on unlimited monthly memberships or ten-class passes, that is not a workaround, it is the wrong category. Momoyoga, Ubindi, Punchpass and OfferingTree are the fairer comparison there.

Twizzlo has no retail inventory, so you cannot sell mats and props through it. It has no payroll or commission calculation for teacher pay, no POS hardware, no marketing automation suite, and no charting or SOAP notes. Twizzlo does not publish a card processing rate. Where it fits is a teaching schedule that behaves like a set of appointments: privates, small groups, and workshops booked one seat at a time. That is a narrow slice of the free yoga studio software market, and we would rather name the slice than sell you the wide version. Our pricing page lists both plans. Where it does not fit, we would rather you know now than after you migrate.

How do you test a free plan before you move your studio onto it?

A free plan lets you test software with no subscription, so test it properly before it becomes your only calendar. Take one real payment. This is the step that reveals the fee stack. Run a $30 booking through and read the payout. On Ubindi Free that payment meets 5% plus 20¢ in platform fees before the processor takes its cut. On Momoyoga Free it meets 5% on top of the Stripe fee. We have not run these payments ourselves, so those are published rates rather than measured payouts, which is exactly why you should run one.

Count your users the way the vendor counts them. Setmore counts a staff calendar as a user even when nobody logs into it. Square counts locations, and Square Plus at $49 a month and Square Premium at $149 a month are each charged per location. Momoyoga counts memberships and class passes, capping Free at 2. Ubindi counts students, capping Free at 50. Twizzlo counts bookings, at 150 a month. Each of the five free plans in this article counts a different unit.

Load one real week before you commit. Put in your actual class times, teacher availability, prices and cancellation window, then book yourself through the public link the way a student would. Then set a reminder for the month your cap arrives. Our explainer on appointment software with no seat fees is a reasonable place to start a shortlist.

Frequently asked questions

Is there genuinely free yoga studio software, or only free trials?

Both, and at least one ranking list we checked mixes them. Five of the nine platforms we priced publish a $0 plan (€0 on Momoyoga) rather than a trial: Twizzlo, Setmore, Square Appointments, Ubindi and Momoyoga. On September 10, 2026, Momence's pricing page read "Let's talk pricing" and listed no plan or price. Punchpass and OfferingTree offer 14-day free trials only. Mindbody's pricing page shows neither, and states "Starting at $79 USD/month per location".

What is the catch with a free plan for a yoga studio?

On all five free plans here, a fee on each payment, a hard cap, or both. Ubindi Free adds 5% + 20¢ in platform fees on each online payment, and Momoyoga Free adds 5% on top of the Stripe fee. Twizzlo caps at 150 bookings a month and publishes a 1.5% platform fee on top of Stripe's own fees, but no separate free-plan rate, so we treat the 1.5% on Free as an assumption.

Which free plan handles memberships and class packs?

Momoyoga Free and Ubindi Free both sell passes and memberships at no subscription cost, which Twizzlo's and Setmore's free plans do not. Momoyoga limits its Free plan to 2 memberships and class passes and 1 paid ticket type per event. Ubindi Free covers up to 50 students. Twizzlo has no membership or package builder.

How many staff can I have on a free plan?

It depends what the vendor counts. Twizzlo's free plan allows unlimited employees and locations inside its cap of 150 bookings a month. Setmore's free plan allows up to 4 users, and counts each staff calendar as a user even without login access. Square Free is priced at $0 a month per location, so locations are the unit there.

At what point is a paid plan cheaper than the free one?

When the percentage fee the paid plan saves you passes its subscription. On Momoyoga, Standard at €29 per month billed annually breaks even at €580 a month in online payments, and Standard at €39 per month billed monthly at €780 a month. On Ubindi, Essential at $14 a month on monthly billing breaks even at $466.67 a month in online payments, and Essential at $11 a month on yearly billing at $366.67 a month. On Square Appointments, Square Plus at $49 a month per location breaks even at $12,250 a month per location in online card volume, and at $49,000 a month per location in person.

Is Twizzlo's free plan a trial?

No. It is $0 a month permanently, capped at 150 bookings a month, with every feature included and unlimited employees, locations and customers. It has no SMS. Business Pro removes the cap at $29.99 a month flat per business, includes 50 SMS then $0.03 a message, and carries a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Do free plans cost more in card processing?

Sometimes. Square Appointments charges 3.3% + 30¢ per online transaction on Square Free against 2.9% + 30¢ on Square Plus and Square Premium. In person it is 2.6% + 15¢ per transaction on Square Free against 2.5% + 15¢ on Square Plus and 2.4% + 15¢ on Square Premium. Ubindi and Momoyoga charge platform fees on their free tiers instead of a higher processing rate.

Can I run a whole yoga studio on a free plan?

A solo teacher or a small studio can, if the model is appointments and drop-ins rather than recurring memberships. A studio living on unlimited monthly memberships, waitlists and class packs will outgrow the free plans here, because none lists both recurring memberships and waitlists. Punchpass puts recurring memberships on Flow at $99 a month billed monthly.

Prices in this article were read from each vendor's own website between September 8 and September 11, 2026, and they will drift, so check the vendor's page before you buy. If a flat rate fits how you are growing, start with Twizzlo's yoga studio booking software and test it on the free plan.
