In short

GlossGenius costs less at most team sizes: $28 a month for one provider, $56 for two to nine staff and $168 for 10 or more, billed monthly. Booksy is $29.99 plus $20 per added team member, plus tax, so it is cheaper only for two people, and its optional Boost takes 30% of a new client's first visit.

By Roger Grekos, Co-Founder & Editor. Vendor prices read on Booksy's and GlossGenius's own pages on October 2, 2026 (US, before tax).

Booksy and GlossGenius both sell online booking, payments and client records to salons, barbers, nail techs and other beauty pros, but they charge in opposite ways. Booksy sells one subscription that rises with every team member and runs a client marketplace with an optional new-client commission. GlossGenius sells three plans whose price jumps at set staff counts, and its pricing page lists no marketplace commission. This comparison works out what each model costs for your team size, your average ticket and the new clients you expect.

How we compared them: we read Booksy's US pricing page and US help center, and GlossGenius's pricing page, on October 2, 2026, and did the arithmetic from those published figures. We did not test either product hands-on, so each feature listed below is what the vendor states on its own pages. Prices exclude tax. For a plan-by-plan look at each vendor, see our GlossGenius pricing and Booksy pricing pages.

How do Booksy and GlossGenius charge?

The two price lists answer different questions. Booksy asks how many people work in your business. GlossGenius asks which staff band your team falls into and which features you need.

What each one costs by team size

Line chart of the monthly subscription for 1 to 12 staff. Booksy rises in a straight line from $29.99 to $249.99. GlossGenius billed monthly steps from $28 to $56 at two staff and to $168 at 10; billed annually it steps from $24 to $48 to $148.
Figure 1. Monthly subscription by number of staff at one location, before tax, card processing and add-ons. Booksy is $29.99 plus $20 for each added user; GlossGenius is Standard for one provider, Gold for up to nine staff and Platinum for 10 or more. Prices read on each vendor's pricing page on October 2, 2026.
Staff Booksy GlossGenius, billed monthly GlossGenius, billed annually Lower monthly bill
1 $29.99 $28 (Standard) $24 (Standard) GlossGenius, by $1.99
2 $49.99 $56 (Gold) $48 (Gold) Booksy, by $6.01
3 $69.99 $56 (Gold) $48 (Gold) GlossGenius, by $13.99
5 $109.99 $56 (Gold) $48 (Gold) GlossGenius, by $53.99
9 $189.99 $56 (Gold) $48 (Gold) GlossGenius, by $133.99
10 $209.99 $168 (Platinum) $148 (Platinum) GlossGenius, by $41.99
12 $249.99 $168 (Platinum) $148 (Platinum) GlossGenius, by $81.99

Table 2. Monthly subscription at one location, before tax, card processing and add-ons, read October 2, 2026. The last column compares Booksy with GlossGenius billed monthly.

Booksy's formula is $29.99 plus $20 for each person after the first, so its bill climbs in a straight line: $109.99 for five people and $209.99 for 10. GlossGenius stays flat inside each band. A second provider moves a GlossGenius account from Standard to Gold, because its plan comparison marks team member profiles, staff management and booking with multiple service providers as not included on Standard. The 10th staff member moves it to Platinum.

That makes a two-person team the only size where Booksy's subscription is lower on monthly billing, by $6.01. On annual GlossGenius billing even that flips: Gold at $48 a month is $1.99 below Booksy's $49.99. From three people up, GlossGenius costs less at every size. The gap reaches $133.99 a month at nine staff, drops to $41.99 when Platinum's $168 starts at 10, then widens by $20 with each added person.

Two cautions before you rely on the table. Booksy's pricing page calls the added seats users and team members without saying whether a front-desk login counts, so ask before you price a receptionist. And a GlossGenius business that wants payroll pays a $40 monthly add-on plus $6 per seat on top of any plan.

New clients: Booksy's marketplace fee against GlossGenius's own channels

Booksy's marketplace is the clearest difference between the two products. Whether its fee is worth paying depends on how many new clients you need and how often they come back.

Booksy Boost: 30% of a new client's first visit

Every Booksy business gets a free listing on the Booksy marketplace. Boost is an optional setting for better visibility there. It is free to turn on and has no monthly fee; instead, Booksy charges a one-time commission of 30% of the total cost of a Boost client's first visit, with a $10 minimum and a $100 maximum. Later visits from that client carry no commission, and the tip stays with you, according to Booksy's US help center, read October 2, 2026.

Two details limit the fee. Booksy charges it only for visits that actually took place, and asks businesses to mark a new client as a no-show the same day to avoid the charge. It also says it charges no commission for new clients who find you through your own marketing, and recommends sharing your Booksy profile link so those bookings are not counted as Boost clients.

Line chart of the Booksy Boost commission by first-visit price from $0 to $500: $10 up to a $33.33 visit, then 30% of the visit, capped at $100 from a $333.33 visit.
Figure 2. Booksy Boost commission on one new client's first visit, from Booksy's US help center read October 2, 2026: 30% of the visit total, $10 minimum, $100 maximum, charged once and only if the visit takes place.
First-visit price Boost fee Share of that visit
$20 $10 (minimum) 50%
$33.33 $10 30%
$50 $15 30%
$60 $18 30%
$80 $24 30%
$150 $45 30%
$333.33 $100 30%
$500 $100 (maximum) 20%

Table 3. Booksy Boost commission on one new client's first visit, from the Booksy US help center, read October 2, 2026. Multi-service first visits are calculated service by service and then capped.

The fee looks different over a client's first year. Take a hypothetical $60 haircut: the first visit costs $18 in Boost commission. If that client returns five more times at $60, the $18 is 5% of the $360 they spent with you. If they never return, it is 30% of one visit.

GlossGenius: Google Booking and your own marketing

GlossGenius's pricing page, read October 2, 2026, lists no client marketplace and no new-client commission. Its plan comparison puts Google Booking, which lets clients book from Google, on Gold and Platinum. The other acquisition tools it lists are ones the business runs itself: a booking website on every plan, email and text marketing, and automated review prompts sent with receipts.

How Boost changes the monthly comparison

Add Boost to the team-size table and Booksy's one price advantage disappears quickly. At two people, Booksy's subscription is $6.01 below GlossGenius Gold on monthly billing, and a single Boost client costs at least $10. At five people, where Booksy already costs $53.99 more a month, three Boost clients at $60 each add another $54. With Boost in use, the case for Booksy rests less on its subscription price than on whether its marketplace brings you clients you would not get otherwise.

Card processing: which rate costs less at your ticket size

GlossGenius charges a flat 2.6% on every payment and says it charges "no Tap to Pay, card-on-file, or manual entry fees." Booksy charges by payment method, and its fixed per-payment fee decides the comparison: it costs more on small tickets and less on large ones taken on its card reader.

Line chart of the card fee as a share of the ticket, from $20 to $300. GlossGenius is flat at 2.6%. Booksy's card reader rate falls below 2.6% above $90.91, its Tap to Pay rate above $181.82, and its mobile and keyed-in rate stays above 2.6% at every ticket size.
Figure 3. Card fee as a percentage of one payment, by ticket size, at each vendor's published US rate read October 2, 2026. Booksy: 2.49% + $0.10 card reader, 2.49% + $0.20 Tap to Pay, 2.69% + $0.30 mobile and keyed-in. GlossGenius: flat 2.6%.
Ticket GlossGenius 2.6% Booksy card reader 2.49% + $0.10 Booksy Tap to Pay 2.49% + $0.20 Booksy mobile and keyed-in 2.69% + $0.30
$25 $0.65 $0.72 $0.82 $0.97
$50 $1.30 $1.35 $1.45 $1.65
$75 $1.95 $1.97 $2.07 $2.32
$100 $2.60 $2.59 $2.69 $2.99
$150 $3.90 $3.84 $3.94 $4.34
$200 $5.20 $5.08 $5.18 $5.68
$300 $7.80 $7.57 $7.67 $8.37

Table 4. Fee on one payment at each published US rate, read October 2, 2026, rounded to the cent. At $300 the fee is 2.60% of the ticket on GlossGenius, 2.52% on Booksy's card reader, 2.56% with Tap to Pay and 2.79% keyed in, the values at the right edge of Figure 3.

The crossover points come straight from the rates. Booksy's card reader rate is lower than 2.6% only on payments above $90.91, and its Tap to Pay rate only above $181.82. The rate Booksy lists for mobile payments and keyed-in entry costs more than GlossGenius at any price, because 2.69% is already above 2.6% before the 30 cents. For a barbershop with a $45 average ticket, each payment costs 5 cents more on Booksy's reader, 15 cents more with Tap to Pay and 34 cents more keyed in; on a $300 color service run through Booksy's reader, it costs 23 cents less.

Card readers and payout speed

Card readers and faster payouts add their own costs. Booksy lists its integrated readers as the Stripe Reader S710 at $299 and the Stripe Reader M2 at $53.10, plus shipping. GlossGenius lists card readers on every plan and a 50% discount on its Tap & Go readers on Gold and Platinum; we did not read its reader prices. Faster payouts cost extra on both: 1.5% for Booksy's 30-minute Fast Payouts and an additional 1.8% for GlossGenius's instant payouts.

Features: Booksy's one subscription against GlossGenius's three tiers

Booksy's pricing page says "All features included" for its one subscription. GlossGenius spreads features across three plans. The rows below are the features most often weighed between the two, and each cell is what that vendor's own page states.

Feature Booksy GlossGenius

Table 5. Booksy's pricing page and GlossGenius's Beauty & Wellness plan comparison, both read October 2, 2026. "Not listed" means the page we read does not list it, not that the product lacks it.

The split matters most for small teams. A three-person salon that wants a waitlist and digital waivers gets both on Booksy for $69.99 a month and on GlossGenius Gold for $56. A solo pro on GlossGenius Standard at $28 does without the waitlist, forms and Google Booking that Booksy includes at $29.99.

How current are the vendors' own comparison pages?

Both companies publish their own Booksy vs GlossGenius comparison, and both date from 2024. Read against the live price lists on October 2, 2026, both show figures that are now GlossGenius's annual-billing rates as monthly prices.

  • Booksy's comparison page says it is based on data as of December 8, 2024. It prices GlossGenius at "$48.00 monthly" and says matching Booksy's 2,000 free texts would need GlossGenius's top tier at "$148/mo". Both are GlossGenius's annual-billing rates today; billed month to month, Gold is $56 and Platinum $168.
  • GlossGenius's own post is dated September 8, 2024, and says its prices and feature comparisons are as of August 12, 2024. Its comparison table lists its plans at $24 and $48 under "Monthly Price"; on today's price list those are the annual-billing rates. Its Booksy processing range, 2.49% + 10 cents to 2.69% + 30 cents, still matches Booksy's page.

The practical correction is the same for both: a business that pays GlossGenius month to month should budget $28, $56 or $168, not $24, $48 or $148.

Which one fits your business?

  • Solo pro with your own following: GlossGenius Standard at $28 a month, or $24 billed annually, if you can work without a waitlist, forms and Google Booking. If you need those, Booksy at $29.99 includes them.
  • Solo pro building a client list: Booksy, for the marketplace listing, with Boost turned on while you have open slots to fill. Budget 30% of each new client's first visit, between $10 and $100.
  • Two people: Booksy's $49.99 is the lower monthly bill, unless you pay GlossGenius annually ($48) or add Boost clients.
  • Three to nine staff: GlossGenius Gold at $56 a month, lower than Booksy's $69.99 to $189.99 at every size in that range.
  • Ten or more staff: GlossGenius Platinum at $168, against $209.99 and up on Booksy.
  • High tickets paid in person: Booksy's reader rate beats 2.6% on payments above $90.91. Below that, and on any keyed-in payment, the flat 2.6% costs less.

If neither fits, our guides to Booksy alternatives and GlossGenius alternatives cover other options. If Vagaro or Fresha is also on your shortlist, see GlossGenius vs Vagaro and Fresha vs Booksy.

How to check the numbers for your own business

  1. Count everyone who takes bookings or needs a login, including part-time staff, and ask Booksy whether a front-desk login counts as a user.
  2. Find your GlossGenius band: one provider fits Standard, two to nine staff need Gold, and 10 or more need Platinum.
  3. Price Booksy as $29.99 plus $20 for each added person, then add your sales tax.
  4. Take your average ticket and how clients pay. Under $90.91 on a reader, or for any keyed-in payment, GlossGenius's 2.6% costs less per payment.
  5. Estimate how many new clients a month you expect from the Booksy marketplace, and multiply by 30% of a typical first visit, from $10 to $100 each.
  6. Use both 14-day trials, which need no credit card, to book, pay for and cancel a test appointment before you move your client list.

Where Twizzlo fits, and where it does not

Twizzlo is web-based online booking and appointment scheduling software for appointment-based service businesses, priced per business rather than per seat or staff band. Free is $0 a month for up to 150 bookings a month, with no SMS, and is free forever, not a trial. Business Pro is $29.99 a month per business for unlimited bookings, with 50 SMS a month included and $0.03 for each one after that, and it comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Both plans include unlimited staff and locations, so hiring a third stylist or opening a second location does not change the bill.

Online payments carry your Stripe processing rate plus a 1.5% Twizzlo platform fee. On a $60 online payment, the platform fee is $0.90 on top of Stripe's charge, so check your own Stripe rate before you compare card costs. The plan details are on Twizzlo's pricing page.

Twizzlo covers a 24/7 online booking page, email reminders and SMS reminders on Business Pro, prepaid bookings charged at the full service price, a no-show fee setting the business controls, tips at checkout, client profiles with notes and visit history, client self-rescheduling, and Employee Shifts for multi-location staff shifts and schedules. Support is available 24/7 at support@twizzlo.com. The full list is on Twizzlo's features page.

Where it does not fit: Twizzlo's features page does not list a client marketplace, waitlists, forms and waivers, gift cards, memberships, payroll or commission tracking. If marketplace discovery or one of those features is why you are choosing software, the two platforms above are the better match. If you need booking, reminders, client records and online payments for a team that keeps growing, you can start on the Free plan and move to Business Pro when you need SMS or more than 150 bookings a month.
